Manual / Guides
Looks.
A Look restyles your drawing when it is shown, played or exported, without changing the drawing itself. Turn a Look off and the original artwork is still there.
Where a Look applies#
- Shot Look — applies to the whole shot: defaults for every layer plus whole-frame passes such as paper.
- Layer Look — a stack of nodes on one layer. Groups pass their Look on to the layers inside them; a layer can stop inheriting.
Nodes#
| Node | What it does |
|---|---|
| Line boil | Redraws lines with a small seeded wobble every step, like hand-drawn boil. |
| Hatch | Hatches filled shapes; spacing follows the fill value, with crosshatch in the shadows. |
| Ballpoint | Turns strokes into ballpoint lines: thin and varying, an ink blob at the start, small skips. |
| Paper | Puts paper under the drawing: plain, lined, grid or dotted, with grain. |
| Posterize | Reduces the number of tones, with optional ordered dither. |
| Pixelize | Big square pixels, optionally locked to the shot palette, with clean outlines. |
| Tone Grade | Grades the finished frame by the shot's time of day, night, storm and fog. |
Presets#
The Library dock holds ready-made Looks: Notebook ink, Clean ink, Pencil boil and Graph paper. Apply one to the shot, then adjust its nodes in the Look page of the Properties panel.
Timing#
Looks that move (boil, hatch wobble, ballpoint skips) change on steps, by default every second frame. Playing, scrubbing and exporting the same frame always give the same picture.
Baking#
Bake turns the current Look result into ordinary drawings you can edit by hand.
